Bio
Ms. Shreckengost is a lecturer in the Department of Child and Family Development at San Diego State University, where she has been teaching since 2022. She teaches courses for both the department and Global Campus, bringing over two decades of real-world experience in child welfare and social work to the classroom.
In addition to her academic role, Ms. Shreckengost serves as a Chief of Agency Operations for the County of San Diego’s Health and Human Services Agency, Department of Child and Family Well-Being. Over the past 24 years, she has held key roles in investigations, court intervention, voluntary and continuing services, adoptions, foster home licensing, placement, Team Decision Making (TDM) facilitation, policy development, legislative analysis, training, and major system implementations. She has also contributed to the programs Fostering Academic Success in Education (FASE), which supports educational outcomes for youth in care.
A dedicated educator throughout her career, Ms. Shreckengost has trained newly licensed foster parents, developed curriculum for the regional training academy, and co-founded a consulting company to train new social work supervisors across California. Most recently, she designed an online accelerated course for SDSU's Global Campus, and remains committed to helping students reach their educational and professional goals.
