It was educational in more respects than one. Lind witnessed high-stress environments with therapists being driven to load up on patients and over-book themselves. She also witnessed the aftermath. The burnout. The early exits from the profession.

Most of all, he remembers the look in his eyes. It was at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s, and the kid was clearly high — but there was something else. Something more haunting.
